ROLE OF PRODUCER IN FILM INDUSTRY:

Producer is the creator of movie. Producer, is the one who co-ordinates, supervises and takes the lead of controlling numerous matters like raising finances, employs human resources and arranging distributors to purchase the film. Producer is the one who is involved in all phases of making a film i.e, from development of script to its post- production, marketing and release of film to audiences. Producer is in charge for turning imaginative thoughts into reality. Main aim of a producer is to sell the motion picture at higher rate to distributor. Producer promotes and publicizes film to attract more crowds so to get higher price from distributor. Distributor estimates the budget depending on pre-release marketing of film and past records of producer. If the music of film has done well in market then surely the producer fetches a higher price since music plays key role in Indian film.  

 There are different types of producers in bollywood film industry:

• Executive Producer who is a CEO or a Major Investor in the project.
• Co-producer who finances the project and involved in routine production activities and reports to executive producer.
• Line-Producer who is responsible for overseas film budget.
• Consulting Producers are co-executive producers. They assist the writers.
• Online Producers are known as content producers and they are responsible for creating, editing texts, animations, images on websites. They need to be very creative in their work as webpage of film creates an impression about the film in the minds of audience.

The Producers who are producing films from long time and have developed goodwill and loyalty in market and have their own studio which  help them to sell their films at initial stages of production like Yash Raj Productions, Dharma Productions and Balaji Telefilms. These producers can finance entire project solely. They do not need to depend on external sources for finance. Small producers have to borrow money on interest at a high rate from private sources as banks and financial institutions did not invested because of risk factors involved in it. Producer can also pre-sell movie and its rights to distributors but it is only possible when film have successful actors working in it and its success on box-office is assured. People invest in film because of high returns and they love to be associated with glamour world. Producer level, marketing is done on a large scale considering national and international scenario.
